I am a novice pianist and have a fairly sophisticated electronic keyboard at home. However, I am spending the next three months in Florida to get away from the Canadian winter. I saw this keyboard on Amazon. The price was right and the available software seemed exactly what I was looking for to help me improve my piano playing. The piano arrived on time. The difference between the version I bought (for the iPad Air) and the regular version is the inclusion of a 30-pin to lightning adaptor to connect to the iPad. Given that the price differential between the models is $10, this seems like a good deal given that the price for an adaptor is generally well north of $10. The adaptor works just fine. From other reviews there are lots of complaints with the App that comes with the piano. The complaints centre around the fact that the app does not wait for the piano player to play the right note. I have not even tried to use this functionality since I am sure I will have the same problem. What I like about the app is the level of instruction that comes with each tune. Each tune is broken down into right hand and left hand and I found the instruction to be really helpful. The fact that the sheet music for each tune is also included is a real bonus. Again as a result of the reviews from previous owners, I downloaded the Synthesia app. At first, I had trouble with the app since it wouldn't recognize the ION piano. Turning off the iPad fully and restarting solved the problem. I am very pleased with the Synthesia app. It is an excellent complement to the app that comes with the piano.
